Just about anything will pull a trailer tent as it doesn’t weigh a great deal anyway , but following your line of thinking i believe you wouldn’t find a better vehicle than a Jeep Patriot , astonishingly (especially for Jeep) it’s fuel consumption is supposed to be over 40 miles to the gallon .
Hope this helps .
I just looked 10k should get you a mint condition one with less than 20 thousand on the clock , probably still under the manufacturers warranty .

My pop up is around 3500 GVW and my last car a 4.6L V8 Ford Explorer had trouble climbing some steep mountains in the Rockie Mountains. If your going to do mostly flat driving buy anything. If your going to do steep ascents I would suggest an SUV or Truck with a V8 rated for at least 7500 LBS.
